I trust everyone has had a chance to rest, restore and reflect as we prepare for this New Year ahead. The year is new in number, 2025, but not new in our continued service excellence. The Ontario CEC Board of Directors remain committed to our Vision of high-quality education that is inclusive, equitable and accessible for children and youth with disabilities; and our Mission of cultivating, supporting and empowering education professionals to be change champions who work with children and youth with disabilities and to our Core Values of visionary thinking and integrity.

From personal experience, I know this Board is a passionate group of advocates, united in a common purpose to move forward the mission and vision of Ontario CEC. It is this passion and dedication that drives the important work of this board. Our focus at Ontario CEC is on being change champions that make a difference for all students and educators. Mattering is that key component. All people need to know that they matter. That is what is needed and that is what makes a difference.
We are accountable to you, our members, and I am confident that this board of exemplary advocates will continue to provide the commitment to excellence that you, our members, have been accustomed to
This communication is the first of several that I will send over the next few weeks; future communications will focus on Ontario CEC’s mission, vision, and values, 2024 highlights, annual Ontario CEC Conference, Ontario CEC resources, awards, advocacy and how we can work collectively to achieve our mission.

Special note: We are excited to share with you the video of our opening Keynote Presentation at our 2024 Ontario CEC Conference:

The Not So Ordinary Magic of Mattering: Lifting Up All Children
delivered by Dr. Gordon Flett, Professor, LaMarsh Centre for Child & Youth Research, Department of Psychology, York University.

Mattering is not so ordinary. It provides unique strength and resilience when present, especially relationship resilience. It also represents a unique part of self and identity central to being able to bounce back and adapt.

Our focus at Ontario CEC is on being change champions who make a difference for all students and educators. Mattering is a key component. All people need to know that they matter. That is what is needed and that is what makes a difference.
